Volunteer for the Foster Grandparent Program?

Foster Grandparent Volunteers believe that they can make a difference in the lives of children.Applicants must be age 55 years or older and have a household income of less than 200 percent of the federal poverty guideline (for instance, $21,660 per year for a one-person household, or $29,140 for a two-person household as of 11/15/2010). Applicants need to be reasonably healthy and have time to volunteer 15-40 hours a week in a classroom setting.  

 

To apply, complete the Foster Grandparent Program Application HERE. The application may be submitted on line or mailed to the Foster Grandparent Program, P.O. Box 1026, Battle Creek, MI 49016. A staff member will call to set up an in-person interview with you, and schedule the required criminal background check paperwork, a physical, and TB test (which we pay for if you need assistance with this). You will receive 40 hours of pre-service training before you begin your Foster Grandparent volunteer assignment.
